Welcome to Rose Class
Our class motto is… “I can”
We can achieve anything – as long as we try!
Welcome, we are a reception class. We love to learn through play in our continuous provision.
Miss Clitheroe joins us in a morning, to work with children on a 1 to 1 basis. Miss O’Neill joins us in the afternoon.
Spring Term Topics
Our topics are decided based on the interests of the children. The 3 main themes we will be exploring this term are:
* Healthy Eating & Exercise
* Our Bodies
In addition to these themes there will be mini themes that develop following the children’s interests.
We appreciate any items such as cereal boxes, kitchen roll tubes, clean yoghurt pots, bottle tops etc.… for our creative making area.
Following on from the reception reading meeting and from the leaflet that has been sent home, we would like your children to read for 10 minutes every night. Please sign their ‘Reading Record Book’ every time you read. Their book bags need to be brought back into school the next day so that they can be stamped in the ‘Reading Record Book’ and ‘Stamp Card’ can be stamped. Once your child has filled a page in their stamp cards, they will get a prize.
The children will also be sent home with key words to learn and phonics. They will get a new list of words when they can read them.
We listen to the children read each week during guided reading. The children will also have a designated day of the week when they will be heard to read individually and have their reading books changed. Please make sure their reading packets are in school each week on their designated reading day.
No matter the weather, we have a free flow policy when it comes to outside. Please make sure your child has a warm winter coat, gloves, and scarf. We do have waterproof pants for the children to get changed into. However, if you would like your child to have a pair of wellies in school, please bring them in a labelled bag.
Our P.E days are Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure that your child has their full P.E kit in school, labelled with their name. Also make sure that your child has taken out their earrings.
If your child requires medical attention in school, please contact Mrs Nicholls and complete the relevant forms to keep school updated and keep your child safe in school.
