Chorley FC School Escorts.

Duke Street flying high with Chorley Magpies
Four children were given the opportunity to escort players on to the pitch in the recent FA cup match at Victory Park where Chorley FC took on Fleetwood Town. Amy, Connor, Joseph and Jake were selected for their excellent attitude and behaviour and always setting a good example to others.
The children joined over almost 4.000 spectators savouring the exciting atmosphere and prospect of this big match. Their evening started off by having a kick around on the pitch in their new Duke Street Football kits, supplied by Andy Hart Ground Work and Designs. A Chorley representative put the children through football drills and exercises before taking up their positions in the tunnel at the side of a Chorley player. The atmosphere was electric! There were television cameras, photographers and a few famous faces.  The referee led the two teams out on to the pitch to the chants of the fans!! The teams, and player escorts lined up as the officials shook hands with the players. We all enjoyed the fantastic effort the Chorley lads made, but unfortunately the result didn’t go our way. However, the children had experienced this amazing opportunity with our local football club and each wrote a thank you letter to the club.
Thanks to Mrs Nicholls for liaising with the football club to organise this special evening and thanks to Mr Allen for helping chaperone the children and for his photography skills!! A big thank you must also go to Chorley FC for giving our children here at Duke Street this amazing chance to represent not only the club but our school too in such a unique way.
